Septic Tips:
  • Have scheduled preventative maintenance and never skip your annual inspection. This can remove solids which have settled over time to prevent backup and costly repairs down the road.
  • Limit the water entering your septic tank and give your system time to rest after heavy use.
  • Use water-saving fixtures.
  • Avoid using a garbage disposal more than needed. Garbage disposals add tremendously to the amount of solids entering your septic tank.
  • Discard grease in the garbage instead of the drain. Grease can clog your drain and septic system. Grease can also seep into the soil surrounding your septic system, causing environmental hazards. The use of liquid fabric softeners can also contribute to excessive scum in your system tank.
  • Use toilet paper that decomposes easily. Purchase brands labeled "Septic Safe" for septic systems.
